INDIA - USA RELATIONS

India-US bilateral relations have developed into a "global strategic partnership", based on shared democratic values and increasing convergence of interests on bilateral, regional and global issues.

Gujarat and USA share strong bilateral relations supported by trade ties and regular diplomatic visits. Approximately 1.5 million Gujaratis are currently living in the USA

Gujarat has set up a dedicated US Desk at Investor Facilitation Agency, iNDEXTb, to facilitate investments from USA to Gujarat

In FY 2022*, Gujarat’s total exports of commodities to U.S. stood at US$ 17.46 billion

In September 2019, Gujarat signed a Sister State Agreements with State of Delaware, New Jersey for cooperation in economic development, clean energy, higher education, tourism, cultural exchange, as well as health and trade investment

USA has participated in many Vibrant Gujarat Summits as Partner Country in 2015 when US Secretary of State John Kerry addressed at the Summit.

In December 2021, the then Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Gujarat, Mr. J P Gupta, led a delegation to USA to invite leading industrialists and diplomats of the USA for Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022

US is one of the most preferred destination for higher education by Indians. Nearly, 200,000 Indian students are currently pursuing various courses in USA.

Indo-U.S. Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF) was established by India and the U.S. in 2000 for strengthening cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation.

Indian American community accounts for 3 million people and hence is an essential ethnic group in USA and is also the 3rd largest Asian ethnic group in the US.
