Vision

To spread awareness of sports with purview of character building and indusive development

To identify and nurture the talented players of the State for international platform

Objectives

  • To create sports culture in the society
  • To achieve excellence in sports emphasizing Olympic sports
  • To encourage sportspersons with all-around development

Benefit to Players

  • Scholarships and trainings to talented players under Shaktidoot Scheme to represent India at international sports event.
  • Along with training assistance, sports equipment, travel up to Rs 25 Lakh annually per player
  • Under Swami Vivekanand Centre of Excellence (COE) 1400 players are benefitted annually with Rs 65000 towards sports nutrition, stipend and travelling expenses for sports training.

Emphasis of Sports in Schools and Colleges

  • Inclusion of sports as a subject in the curriculum, at par with other optional subjects in a phased manner.
  • Students while competing in state, national, international sporting events will be given flexibility in attendance as well as allotment of marks for sports.
  • Guidelines will be issued for phase wise development of qualified physical education (PE) teachers in the schools.

Creation of Sports infrastructure

  • Efforts to provide requirements for sports complexes with at least 2000 sq yards of open field at a distance of 2 kms to play.
  • Development plans of urban areas-nagarpalika and village panchayats to earmark a plot of up to six acres for play fields in villages with a population of greater than 5000.
  • Multipurpose utilization of sports infrastructure and to involve private sector through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Public Private Partnerships (PPP).

Sports University and High Performance Centre

  • Swarnim Gujarat Sports University to be provided with high performance centre and development of sports specific fitness techniques such as Yogasan and Meditation.

Empowering Local Communities

  • To establish a Sports Development Council at Municipal Corporations, Prants, Taluka and District Level with creation of a committee in each village for development of sports and fitness related activities.

Khel Mahakumbh & Khelo India

  • A systematic competition structure to identify the talent from village to State level.
  • Selected players of Khel Mahakumbh to be assisted for national/ international tournaments.

Talent Identification under Khele Gujarat

  • Swami Vivekanand Khel Pratibha Shodh Abhiyan from Khel Mahakumbh and nurture the talent in residentialsports academies with expert coaches
  • Creation of DLSS (District Level Sports School) in each district of Gujarat as well as to identify SGFI probable.
  • Identifying talent and provide specialised training to tribal sportspersons under in School Programme

Sports Excelency through Academy

  • Services of renowned expert coaches like PT. Usha -Athletics, Dhanraj Pillay-Hockey, Gagan Narang-Shooting,
  • P. Gopichand-Badminton and Ryiyoing-Table tennis for the talented players under COE
